Young sets sights on derby double in front of live cameras

Afan-LidoPort Talbot host Afan Lido at the GenQuip on Saturday (3:45) looking to record back-to-back victories over their rivals following Boxing Day’s emphatic 3-0 win.

Goals from David Brooks, Carl Payne and Lewis Harling fired Town back into the top-six in a surprisingly one-sided encounter, as manager Scott Young celebrated his first derby win in style.

“I was quite pleased with the first half, we were against the wind but were brave and dominated possession”, said Young.

“Defensively we were solid – we got on the ball and passed it around and the players did what was asked of them.”

Lewis Harling teed up Brooks’ opening goal before his second-half header sealed the win, with the midfielder striking a rich vein of form over the Christmas period, with impressive performances against Carmarthen and Afan Lido.

“He’s been excellent in our last two games, his is confidence is growing and he’s a good player,” praised Scott Young.

“Consistency is the key for all of our players – he’s got to find that week in, week out. We’re seeing glimpse of it at the moment and he’s a young lad who we’re yet to see the best of.”

Young will have an enforced change to content with as James Bloom starts a one-match ban, whilst Cortez Belle remains sidelined through injury.
