Youth team meeting called
June 30, 2012
Head of Youth Mark Pike has called a youth team meeting for all youth players this coming Monday, 2nd July commencing 6.30.
Existing and new players are encouraged to attend to hear the youth teams plans for the new season, following last season’s successful campaign, where the Under-19’s finished runner’s up in the MacWhirter Youth Division West.
In addition a number of players also made the transition to the first-team, with Aaron Biddescombe in particular, starting nine senior matches, and we also had two Welsh semi-pro caps at U-18 level.
“Youth is about development first and foremost and hopefully preparing the young lads for an opportunity with Mark Jones’ first team,” said Mark Pike. “Next season we will hopefully see more players emerging from the highly successful academy.”
“There are some talented players in last year’s academy at Under-16 level – five of whom were given a taste of what it is all about and made their debuts. This forthcoming meeting is to prepare the young lads ahead of pre-season which will start the following week and will be an opportunity for players to raise any questions. I want everyone fully briefed on the expectations that the club have and to get these young players to understand the commitments and desire necessary.”
