Port Talbot must overturn a 1-0 deficit in ten days’ time, after falling to a first leg defeat in their League Cup first round clash with Carmarthen Town on Friday night.
Jack Christopher’s 35-yard strike late in the first-half was enough to separate the two sides at the halfway point of the tie.
Despite a strong start, the Blues found themselves trailing as Christopher’s strike put Carmarthen ahead against the run of play.
Fortune failed to favour Port Talbot in the second-half, as Martin Rose spurned the opportunity to draw level after referee Dean John awarded a penalty, only for Michael Lewis to save the resulting spot-kick low down to his left, to leave the return leg at the Gen-Quip stadium, in ten days time, evenly poised.
