Attentions turn away from the Welsh Premier League in favour of the League Cup on Friday night (7:30), as Port Talbot visit Carmarthen Town in the first round, first leg.
Unfortunate to come away empty-handed at the Gnoll last week, Port Talbot will be seeking an upturn in fortunes at Richmond Park after a marked improvement in performance in recent games.
Boosted by the news of Cortez Belle inking a new 18th month contract with the club, Mark Jones’ side can once again expect to receive strong support with another good turnout expected from supporters.
The Blues have no injury or suspension concerns leaving Mark Jones with the luxury of a fully fit squad to choose from.
Meanwhile, the match marks the start of Mark Aizlewood’s third-spell in charge of Carmarthen Town and the former Cardiff City man has moved quickly to bolster his side ahead of the second half of the season, including the arrival of Jonathon Hood from Afan Lido.

Last encounter: Friday 26th August 2011 – A disappointing evening saw the Steelmen unable to convert possession into goals and slump to a 2-0 defeat with ex-Port Talbot man Nicky Palmer netting on the Old Gold’s first foray forward. Cledan Davies then added to the Blue’s woes two minutes from time.
One to watch: Cory Thomas – tricky centre midfielder will look to make a creative impact from midfield.
